About Termites!
Subterranean termites are a significant pest problem in Australia, causing extensive damage to buildings and structures These insects live in colonies beneath the soil and have a particular appetite for wood and other cellulose-based materials. If left untreated, they can cause severe structural damage to your property, leading to costly repairs. These tiny, pale insects with soft bodies are sensitive to sunlight and build mud tunnels that connect their nest directly to the food source, including wood, paper, and other cellulose-based materials. The most common causes of termite infestation are excessive moisture, wood to soil contact, debris, and construction practices.

During a Termite inspection!
During a Termite Inspection, our team of experts at Dux Pest Management will conduct a meticulous visual examination of both the interior and exterior of your property. This includes accessing hard-to-reach areas such as the void and subfloor spaces. You can trust us to provide a thorough inspection and assessment of your property. We will inspect:
-
The roof space and any attic areas.
-
Crawl Spaces and underneath decks.
-
Skirting boards, walls, windows and door frames.
-
Inside all cupboards and wardrobes
-
Exterior walls and eaves.
-
Foundations, garages and Sheds
-
Surrounding yard and property
Special Attention is paid to any areas where the plumbing has created gaps in the sub-floor and foundation such as bathrooms, kitchen and laundry. Subterranean Termites can easily access properties through the smallest of cracks and gaps.
Termite Control
Eliminating subterranean termites can be a difficult task, but there are various methods available for their control. The recommended method for eradication depends on the extent of the infestation and the colony's location:
- Chemical Treatment: Chemical treatments are a pest control method that utilizes germicides to form a barrier around the soil and property. This barrier effectively prevents pests from penetrating the treated area, ensuring a pest-free environment.

- Baiting System: A baiting system is a technique that involves strategically placing bait stations around a structure to attract pests. Once the pests consume the bait, they carry it back to their colony, where it spreads and ultimately eradicates the entire colony. While baiting systems are highly effective, it is important to note that they may take several months to work.

- Physical barriers can be employed to prevent termites from entering a structure. These barriers may include the installation of metal mesh or sand around the structure. It is important to note, however, that while physical barriers can be effective in preventing termite infestations, they may not completely eliminate existing termite colonies.

At Dux Pest Management, our team of experts can detect termite colonies and analyze their behavior to guarantee complete elimination. Following the treatment of active termites, we typically wait 14-21 days before revisiting the site to confirm the success of the treatment and the absence of any remaining termites.
